Had a look through that list, an awful lot of people seem
to have the same problem. One thing that did stick out was
that for a lot it was caused by the removing of QOS. Which
is what I did as it interfered with the wireless kit and
the VPN hardware (both knowledgebases on both hardware
manufacturers sites had QOS as causing problems on servers
and workstations).
It looks like the only resolution is to either re-install
QOS, or do as one chap did and remove the Hkey....yada-
controlset-yada..Psched/Performance/Library key. Only
problem I have with that is when I get as far as trying to
expand the Performance header in that list regedit tells
me it has trouble opening that header and will continue no
further.
I'm going to try deleting that key in Safe Mode to see if
it lets me.
As the chap who originally posted this solution said "I
have no idea if this will do anything bad, but everything
has been working fine since" so I'm hoping it will be the
same for me.
So do you think QOS is necessary (given we've removed it
off every machine on site) and is the reg key really all
that important?
